About the Project
The Civic x team constructed the STEAM BOX in January this year. STEAM which is an acronym for Science, Tech, English, Arts and Maths was incorporated into the learning styles of our kids in underserved communities which seeks to impact 200,000 children in rural communities in the next 5 years. With the target of donating 200 boxes across states in all regions in Nigeria, the index box is located in the heart of the Mambilla community which houses Fulani locals here in Abuja.
We developed a Steam box learning curriculum in February which was used to train Steam activators on how to use tools such as Scratch, Bolo, Video Scribe, and Robotics etc. they in turn commenced after school classes for kids in the community on the use of such tools. These classes take place inside our fully kitted STEAM box.
